Fleet Manager - GDC Workshop

GDC are looking to employ a person to manage its large fleet of mixed plant. GDC operate in the wider Canterbury area and run its own state of the art workshop to service and maintain its fleet. The company also programs and maintains outwork for its clients. This is a Monday to Friday office based position.

This job role will include:

  • Overseeing the general condition of plant
  • Managing E-Roads for services, COF, etc
  • Booking in-house COF’s
  • Manage outlook calendar
  • Setting up mechanic’s job sheets
  • Ordering parts for mechanics for current and upcoming work
  • Booking in work and controlling the work programme
  • Delegating work loads
  • Maintaining stock levels and completing stock takes
  • Check and programming certifications for heavy vehicles

The person best suited to this position would need to have the following:

  • Mechanical background in heavy diesel
  • Have good time management, communications skills and be able to work under pressure at times
  • Be competent with computers. Programs we currently use are Xero, Mango, E-Roads and SAM. Experience

with any of these would be an advantage

  • Work as part of a friendly team

Drainlayer Needed

DRAINLAYER REQUIRED NOW – IMMEDIATE START MON-FRI – FULL TIME PERMANENT 

Specialised Vehicle Supplied / Ashburton Based.

Applicant must have at least 5 years’ experience in residential and commercial drainage.
Minimum Class 2 drivers licence.

Be able to read, interpret plants and complete all paperwork and compliance required.

Onsite Team Supervisor - Civil Works (Mon-Fri)

  • Have a strong emphasis on health and safety, compliance, be able to operate an i-pad / tablet and ability to review and enhance systems where necessary.

GDC are looking to employ a full time person to fill this role of Civil Works Team Supervisor which is based in Tinwald, Ashburton. This position is becoming available due to the impending retirement of our current supervisor. Health Insurance paid for by the company is offered after 3 months employment.

Experienced Traffic Management Operator - STMS

STMS – Experienced traffic management operator wanted to work primarily within the Ashburton District for a well known trusted contractor. This is predominately Monday to Friday full time day work with only very occasional weekend or night work required.

The person we are looking for to join our diverse team will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Be a team player to can communicate effectively and relate to a wide variety of staff and clients
  • Have a positive attitude, able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Have a strong emphasis on health & safety, compliance, be able to read plans and be able to review and enhance existing systems

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 year front line traffic management experience and a solid understanding of systems and processes
  • A good working knowledge of civil construction practices and the civil industry in general
  • Computer skills would be an advantage
  • Minimum class 2 Licence
  • OK to undertake a pre-start drug, alcohol and medical test
  • Current STMS Level 1 certification

Duties Include:

  • Performing tasks associated with traffic management and in accordance with NZTA
  • Flexibility to perform other tasks within the company as necessary (eg truck driving, labouring, etc)
  • Accurately lay out traffic management scheme in accordance with basic rules, from a generic traffic control diagram (TCD) or formal traffic management plan (TMP)
  • Correctly complete site hazard assessments and implement control measures to suit the site
  • Loading and unloading vehicles with signage, road cones and associated devices
  • Operate and communicate effectively over two-way radios
  • Set up and manage stop / go traffic management of a site
  • Perform all other duties to control traffic, pedestrians and cyclists to protect work crews and members of the public
  • Accurately and regularly complete site checks and monitor traffic flow to ensure compliance and safety is maintained at all times.
  • Complete pre-start checks
  • Accurately complete daily time sheets and record sheets, ensuring that all variations, modification or adjustments to a traffic management scheme are full recorded and authorised
